Digg

Digg: A Brief History (cont'd)

Influenced by its contemporaries Slashdot and Fark, Digg reigned as the largest user generated news aggregator until its update and rebranding in August 2010, when long-time rival Reddit took its position as number one.

At present time, Digg is still in the prominent position of second-most visited news aggregator, but with far less activity than its 2010 version; Digg today receives an average of 3,000 daily user submissions and 8 million monthly visits.

Who is the average Digger? According to web traffic analyst Alexa.com, the average Digger is more than likely an 18 to 34 year old male with no children, is currently going to or finished college, and normally browses Digg from home. A little over ¼ of these males lives in the United States, while another 1/5 or so of these males live in India. Another 1/5 of these males come from Pakistan, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, Canada and China (respectively).
