Research Questions

The goal of the study was to ultimately prove whether or not Digg’s front page was dominated by a small subset of users. Additionally, the following questions were posed:

What users appear on Digg’s front page the most?
What categories do these users mostly post stories in?
What topics are the most popularly discussed on Digg?
Is activity on Digg increasing or decreasing?

In asking these questions, it was hoped that a ‘portrait’ of Digg could be completed through the answering of these questions, combined with the demographic statistics of the website’s users made available through web tracker Alexa.com.
